Last updated 10 October 2026

These terms apply to every booking, lesson, package, gift card and visit at Manchester Clay Shooting Club, Botany Bay Woods, Grange Road, Eccles, Manchester M30 8JW ("we", "us"). Please read them before booking. If you book for a group, you agree to them for everyone in your group and must make sure the group knows the safety rules in section 7.

1. Making a booking

  • You can book online, by phone on 07761 409 427 or by email at info@manchesterclayshooting.com.
  • Lessons and corporate or group events must be booked at least two weeks in advance. If you would like a date sooner than that, please call us and we will try to fit you in.
  • An online booking is a request until we confirm it by email. Your booking is confirmed, and a contract is made, when we send that confirmation.
  • Please check your confirmation and tell us straight away if anything is wrong.

2. Prices and payment

  • Prices are those shown on our website or quoted to you when you book. We may change our prices, but a confirmed booking keeps the price it was confirmed at.
  • Package prices are per person unless we say otherwise. Lesson prices are per lesson.
  • VAT will be added to corporate invoices.
  • Corporate and group bookings need a deposit of £30 per person to secure the date. We will tell you when the deposit is due.
  • The balance is payable before your session starts, unless we have agreed an invoice with you.
  • Extras on the day, such as food, drink, extra clays and cartridges, are paid for on the day.

3. Changes and cancellations by you

  • Deposits are non-refundable.
  • If you need to change your date, please tell us at least 7 days before your booking. We will try to move you to another date and carry your deposit over, subject to availability. We can usually do this once.
  • For group bookings, please confirm your final numbers at least 7 days before the day. If fewer people come than were booked, the deposit for the missing people is not refunded.
  • If you cancel less than 48 hours before your session, or do not arrive, we may charge the full price.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your start time. If you arrive late, your session may be shortened so that the next booking is not delayed, and the full price still applies.

4. Changes and cancellations by us

  • We may need to cancel or move a session because of dangerous weather, safety concerns or other events outside our control, such as an instructor being taken ill. If we do, we will offer you a new date or a full refund of what you have paid.
  • We shoot in most weather. Rain alone is not normally a reason to cancel.
  • We are not responsible for travel, accommodation or other costs if we have to cancel.

5. Who can shoot

  • Clay shooting is open to beginners and experienced shots. You do not need a shotgun certificate to shoot under the supervision of our instructors.
  • Under-18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who must stay on site and sign our consent form. Young shooters must be able to hold and control the gun safely. The instructor decides whether this is possible.
  • Please tell us when you book about any medical condition, injury, pregnancy or disability that could affect you while shooting. This includes conditions affecting your shoulders, back, neck, eyes or hearing.
  • Gun hire is available. Low-recoil cartridges and 20-bore guns are available for smaller or less experienced shooters.

6. Shotgun certificate holders

  • You must show a valid shotgun certificate at reception every time you visit. It may be held as a deposit for your Promatic card while you shoot.
  • You may bring up to 5 guests. They must be signed in at reception on arrival, and you are responsible for them at all times.
  • Clays and cartridges are paid for after shooting, at the prices shown at reception.

7. Safety rules

Safety comes first. Everyone on site must follow these rules and any instructions from our staff.

  • Every shooter must attend the safety briefing before shooting.
  • No alcohol or drugs before or during shooting. Anyone who appears to be under the influence will not be allowed to shoot, and no refund will be given.
  • Guns must be handled only as instructed: carried open and unloaded, always pointed in a safe direction, and only loaded on the stand when the instructor says so.
  • Eye and ear protection must be worn by everyone on or near a stand. We provide it.
  • Wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.
  • Our instructors and staff may stop anyone from shooting at any time for safety reasons. Their decision is final, and in that case no refund will be given.

8. Spectators and visitors

  • Spectators are welcome and may take photographs. They must stay in the areas staff show them and wear ear protection near the stands.
  • Children who come to watch must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Dogs are not allowed on the shooting grounds.

9. Gift cards and vouchers

  • Gift cards can be used towards any of our services, subject to availability. Please quote the gift card when you book.
  • Gift cards are valid until the expiry date shown on them. They cannot be exchanged for cash or refunded, and lost cards cannot be replaced.

10. Liability

  • Insurance for shooting under our instruction is included in our lessons and packages.
  • We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings or vehicles, except where this is caused by our negligence.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
  • Apart from that, our total liability to you for any booking is limited to the price you paid for it.
  • Shooting is a physical outdoor activity, so please take care on uneven woodland ground.

11. Photographs

We sometimes take photographs at the ground for our website and social media. We will ask before taking or using photographs of you or your group, and you can ask us to remove any photograph at any time.

12. Your personal information

We use the details you give us to manage your booking and keep you safe. Our privacy policy explains how, and what your rights are.

13. Your legal rights, complaints and the law

  • These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
  • If you are unhappy with anything, please tell us on the day or contact us at info@manchesterclayshooting.com, and we will try to put it right.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute.
